I enjoy classic digital cameras. While other people may look at these cameras as obsolete, I can see that they can still take amazing images and often at bargain prices. I also enjoy looking at the back story behind these famous or forgotten digital cameras. It's these cameras that shaped the camera industry to where it is today. Whether it's a cheap old camera or just a weird old camera, I like to feature my adventures with my finds on this channel.

A Japanese Exclusive Camera With a Built-in Printer
This old camera was rendered useless nowadays due to proprietary sticker paper not being available anymore. So, I set out to figure out what that paper looked like and how to replicate it today to bring new life to the camera! Enjoy the adventure, and if you own one, I hope this helps!

I love shopping on Buyee and finding rare gems. My three big tips to shop there are:
1. Pay attention to the yen conversion rate (you can get even better deals when it flows more in your favor!)
2. Remember you pay for shipping twice. Once to Buyee (that's what you see) and then again from Buyee to you (you see that price later). I budget around $30 for most things to get to the US airmail.

Exploring Iconic '90s Cameras
Переглядів 32 тис.14 днів тому
Here are five different 90s digital cameras I have bought and *tried* to get all the way working over the last few months. Emphasis on trying, because it turns out old digital cameras are the extra hard mode of photography. It's the old proprietary batteries, and then the internal memory or external memory with funky drivers, weird file formats (we didn't even get to that in the video, lol, I s...

How to Buy Rare Camera Gear From Japan 🇯🇵
Instant camera (normal): 😢😅🧐 🥱 Instant camera (JAPANUHH): ❤😍🤤☝️😘
The 2000’s called, they want their camera back.
What camera is that? A k3? Or k1?
My dad bought a camera like this back in 1993 for like 15 grand. The following year another came out twice as good and half the price.
Not bad quality
In 1999 flash memory like CF cards, MMC and MemoryStick was already well established, offering much more capacity than a floppy disk. Having a relatively large floppy disk in a camera was very odd even back then. It was only attractive to a subset of customers. It had some advantages regarding price because flash memory was so expensive, you wouldn't just share it like a cheap SD-Card or USB stick today. Also most people didn't have a card reader and you would need to manually install drivers on the PC to connect a card reader or the camera to transfer the images.
I quite enjoy how you get into these cameras, and dive deep, literally and figuratively, and take us along for the adventure. Thank you!
Purpose of the video: to show the quality The Outcome : 0.012 s actual picture
I saw the whole printing process in realtime but just two frames of the finished product in focus and in frame.
Seriously wtf
Everything is an album cover.
So it's worse than a 1980s polaroid?
There's kids cameras on Amazon that do this with receipt paper
Uhm. Was this camera released before or after the gameboy camera?
It was the smacking lips that made me dump this
that game boy camera is cool
I wonder how this would compare to a Canon g9x. I already got that, and I wonder if the Ricoh would be a good pocketable addition. I'd love to see a GR/GR digital comparison, have been wondering about that for years!
Erm what the sigma
40mm “pancake” lense is my all time favorites
Wish sony made a M43 camera like that.
Sigma
Bro set this up as if it was gonna be a list then gave one camera 😔
What the sigma
Had to upload all 8 photos the disk could up to my x386. Only took a half hour or so!
So nostalgic!
Finally, a genius talking about how the signa sensor is superior on the level of details , and refer to a video recording of the photos.
that picture looks like dogshit. basically thermal printer you use to print recipts.
Porikora?
I'm curious: what is that type of screen called? It looks low resolution because there aren't many "pixels" but even the singular (?) pixel in the curved lettering looks like it has an "infinite" resolution, as in the edges are perfect?
It's a monochromatic LCD screen, just like ones in calculators, AC remotes and old electronic thermostats. In this camera it has a separate matrix area for displaying images, but text is baked in as a single segment (basically, separate text-shaped pixel)
@@Rikonardo Oh, okay that makes sense! Thanks for explaining it to me, I really appreciate it!
so a worse polaroid? neat. japanese stuff sure is so kawaii and unique.
Even worse than Gameboy camera
What the sigma
I just realized saying "From Japan" sounds way fancier than "by Casio". For example: "This Japanese Calculator with Carbon Fiber Pattern", when it's just an fx-87 DEX (Aka a 20€ calculator)
Haha, well also I meant this camera was only ever sold in Japan. But yes, I see what you mean.
Uh..Polaroid camera does the same thing but faster
Polaroid uses film, this doesn't
@@securityboy122proprietary sticker paper might as well be called film
@zS39SBT4fe5Zp8Q it is not film though, it being proprietary does not make it the same technology
in my opinion, not just cameras but old tech aswell
Greek government runs on windows 98 se and 2000 oof
What is this "Aa1!" button for?
Rs
I think "petit colle" means "small pen" in french
Nope it would mean small « glue »
Can we have scans of the original thermal paper.
I just scanned a copy for you and it's linked on my blog (which in linked in the description). Let me know if you need something else
I’m pretty sure SD cards were a thing in 1999 that camera is more likely from between 1992 and 1996
i dont have 3d Pinter.
man now i want one of these they're so cute
raspberry pi hq camera + pi zero 2
Thanks for making this video! I impulse purchased this on Japanese Mercari without realising how difficult it is to source the sticker papers. Really appreciate it
Cool, good luck!
Cameras like this currently exist! A few years back, my nephew started taking interest in my mirrorless camera taking pictures of everything and everyone. Well, to feed his interest, I got him a cheap little thermal printer camera from Amazon. He loves it, and aside from the poor image quality from the sensor, the photos print out pretty great!
I totally agree! I still have my first camera I got in 1984. I wish I could still get film for it. Camera's have a more sentimental value than the ones on our phones which is why I prefer to carry a point n shoot camera. My sony TX10 which i just picked up the other day, charged the battery and lo and behold it worked perfect! That camera wrote a very important part of this youtube channel as some of my most influential videos were shot on it. not to mention all the family and vacation photos I have taken on it as well. I have never gotten rid of any camera I own because each camera documented different parts of my life. I am now at the point where I am starting to use my old Sony cybershop cameras over my iPhone or DSLR for photography.
11:56 perfect camera for capturing UFOs
$1,000 then, $8. now at Goodwill
Great watching your video to realize I’ve watched and commented previously.
I HAD THE SAME READER🤯
very cool, very unique - shame there's not a way to figure out how to transfer the photo data straight to a computer, at the end of the day the camera must store these as 1s and 0s somewhere.. 🤔
